Welcome to the working week, rockers! Bachratten are a dream pop/garage rock band from Kassel, Germany. They’ve got a new album coming out on Friday on La Pochette Surprise Records called Durch Dich Durch, and the video for the third single, “Sugarmama,” is streaming now on YouTube.
“Sugarmama” opens on jangly guitars and a sort of Velvet Underground-style melody before the guitars take on a grungier feel and start to ring out with power chords. Then the trippy guitar solo comes in and gives a bit of a 60’s vibe to the song. The brilliantly lo-fi, low-budget video looks like it was shot on a camcorder in 1995 in the midst of a German disco, complete with the fuzzy shots of the disco balls.
