Coilguns are a post-hardcore band out of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. They recently put out a new single and video called “Venetian Blinds,” and the video is now streaming on YouTube.
“Venetian Blinds” is everything you’ve come to love about classic post-hardcore punk, with heavy echoes of At the Drive-In. The complex rhythms are perfectly complimented by the earnest, yearning vocals and the simmering guitars. The video is deceptively simple, as it’s a video of the band recording the song, but with some innovative camera angles, close-ups, and creative use of lens flare, it gives you a striking and intimate portrait of the band in the studio.
