Today’s New Noise: Deady

Deady

Happy Friday, rockers! Deady is a noisy punk band from Louisville, Kentucky. They recently put out a new stand-alone single and video called “R.I.P.” and the video is streaming right now on YouTube.

“R.I.P.” is a hard-rocking track that oscillates between darkness and light to create a shifting sense of hope and despair. Musically, they’re reminiscent of the recent work from Scowl but certainly have a vibe all their own. Frontwoman Mandy Keathley has a wild energy and a powerful stage presence, as evidenced in the video that depicts the band playing a wide variety of live shows and, through some pretty impressive editing, unite the flow of these disparate live shows into one consistent energy.

“The balance of sweet and sour that ‘R.I.P.’ mirrors is the thin line between ‘fine’ and ‘on fire,'” explains Keathley about the track. “There’s an impending doom in the sweetness of the verses, but it quickly falls apart to chaos and rebuilds itself a couple of times before the song’s end, just as many relationships do. In ‘R.I.P’ we know it’s over – but now it’s time to make sure that you know it too. The transitory state of life is part of its charm, and, “life rips, then you die” is the fastest route to gaining ground towards the next collapse.”
