Happy Friday, rockers! Dear francis is the solo project of Jennifer Calvin, vocalist and guitarist for such notable punk acts as Mika Miko and Bleached. The project recently released a music video for the new single “godheads,” and it’s currently streaming on YouTube.
While Calvin’s other projects were heavily punk, dear francis gets a little more introspective with much of “godheads” focused on a slow, simmering build-up that’s punctuated by moments of punk intensity. Delving deep into the dark depths of addiction, the vulnerable and emotional song provides a sympathetic and heartfelt take on the topic. The video, directed by Jennifer’s sister Jessie Calvin, combines original footage with old, found VHS footage from the sisters’ footage with their now-deceased friend Chris, to whom the song is dedicated.
