Iatagano are a noise-power trio from Foligno, Umbria in Italy. They have a new EP coming out on January 4 called You Didn’t Ask For It, But Now It’s Here and the first single and video for the lead single “Metal is 4 Beautiful People” is streaming now on YouTube.
The song has a spastic energy that’s made a little quirky by the vocals which are reminiscent of Serj Tankian from System of a Down. The lyrics have a wry humor to them, such as the breakdown where they follow the chorus of “Metal is 4 beautiful people” with the repeated refrain of “And we’re not, except for the drummer.” The video mirrors that same energy, intercutting shots of the band playing the song in an exaggerated style and clips from the crowd at a metal concert singing along with the track. This track is about as fun as hard rock can get, and certainly bodes well for the rest of the EP when it comes out in a few weeks. Check out the video below.
