Lifeboats are a punk band from Lyon, France. They recently put out a new single called “Confessions” which they describe as the “first single of what is going to be the new Lifeboats sound,” and the video for the song is currently streaming on YouTube.
“Confessions” is a powerful, hardcore punk song anchored by strong melodies. One could arguably call it emocore, with a focus on the “core” part, harkening back to the origin of the term in the ’80s when it was short for “emotional hardcore.” It’s a highly emotional song, and that emotion overflows in anger and frustration that makes the song strongly cathartic. The video shows scenes of the band’s life from touring to performing to just hanging out on the beach. The video is just a fantastically good time. Check it out below.
