Radical Kitten are a rrriotpunk band from Toulouse, France. Their sophomore album Uppercat is coming out on January 26, and they recently put out the video for the first single, which is also the title track, and it’s streaming right now on YouTube.
“Uppercat” is a classic rrriotpunk track brimming with queer and feminist energy that packs a punch both literally and figuratively. The video, directed by multi-disciplinary artist Bonella Holloway, is boxing themed and plays off the song’s fight-themed lyrics brilliantly. Between the video and the song, Radical Kitten channels the rebellious spirit of riot grrrl acts like Le Tigre and Sleater-Kinney. Check out the raucous music video below.
