Surf Candy are a punk band from Chicago and, despite the band name (which is actually a fly fishing reference, I looked it up), you won’t find a ton of surf in this band’s sound. It’s more of a down-and-dirty punk style. We featured them before for Bandcamp of the Day a few years ago, and now they’re back with their latest video for their single “Jailhouse Hoedown.”
“Jailhouse Hoedown” is a rollickingly fun and fast punk song with elements of hardcore, psychobilly, and some dirty cowpunk reminiscent of Hank III himself. It’s punk that’s hard and fast, but also lively and fun. The video sees the band members rocking out from the jailhouse itself, giving a punk-rock outlaw vibe to the whole affair.
