Terra Black are a stoner doom metal band out of Gothenburg, Sweden. Their 2023 album All Descend is getting a reissue on Bonebag Records that will be released tomorrow and, as a taste of what’s to come next, they also recently released a new single called “Tethers” which is currently streaming on their Bandcamp.
Opening on a dark, foreboding cello, “Tethers” quickly launches into a crushingly heavy track which lurches along with the energy of a stoner sludge track but also finds transcendent and complex moments like a prog track. You don’t hear femme vocals enough in doom metal, and vocalist and guitarist Ezgi gives a stunning vocal performance that sets this apart from a lot of the band’s doom peers. Check out the track below.
If you like what you hear, All Descend has a lot of the qualities that make “Tethers” so good: devastatingly heavy doom with moments of proggy complexity and unique, melodic femme vocals. You can preorder the reissue of All Descend here. Follow Terra Black on Facebook and Instagram for future updates.
