Today’s New Noise: Totally Slow

Totally Slow

Happy Friday, rockers! Ring in the weekend with Totally Slow, a melodic hardcore punk band from Greensboro, North Carolina who definitely do not live up to their band name. They recently released a new single called “Future Burns”—featuring guest vocalist Noelle Shuck from Shehehe—off their upcoming fourth album The Darkness Intercepts due out March 22 on Refresh Records, and the video for the single is streaming now on YouTube.

Clocking in at less than two minutes, “Future Burns” packs a lot of hardcore fury into a short amount of time, bringing back the classic hardcore style that’s reminiscent of early Bad Religion. The skate punk riffs add a distinct sense of melody to the track, making for a ragingly beautiful hardcore song. The art house-style, black-and-white, grainy music video is a collage of disparate images united by themes of death, religion, and being chained down. It’s a song and video that could easily have come from the glory days of ’80s hardcore. Check out the Chuck Johnson-directed video below.
