Wasting no time, the emerging quintet ploughed themselves head first into playing as many shows as possible, and have already created a stellar live show by delivering highly intensive and energetic performances.

A Few Too Many - Lessons Learned

TRACK BY TRACK

I Always Knew

I Always Knew is about looking back on your youth and the mistakes you made but acknowledging that growing up wasn’t an easy task and remaining determined to make your mark on the world in the future.

Moving Forwards

Moving Forwards is a positive anthem about moving on with your life and leaving negative experiences and emotions in the past where they belong, whilst wishing the same outcome for others who have yet to find their feet.

First Last Kiss

This track is based on a story about a guy who is in a failing romance with a girl who isn’t really interested in him but he’s trying to revive it because underneath the surface he believes he wants her to be his ‘first last kiss’.

At Our Pace

This is about meeting your partner, spending your first few months together and enjoying the ‘honeymoon period’, then finding your feet in the relationship and wanting to take things slow to avoid rushing a good thing.

Young

Young is about looking back on when you were growing up and attended school but didn’t really want to be there. It’s about remembering when you did the bare minimum to get by and bunked off, being late to classes but didn’t care because you were spending time with your friends and making memories.

Reason

This song is about proving your worth to the person you care about and love despite not always getting everything exactly right between you. It is supposed to be a feel-good pop punk anthem on the surface, but the lyrics are not throw-away and are about embracing and accepting yourself for who you are deep down.

X

X is a stripped back ode to a relationship that is falling apart and the immediate refusal to accept the reality of that situation. It is possibly the hardest hitting and most relatable track on the album because it laments on lost love.

Complications

Complications is about witnessing your friend being turned down by a girl at a New Year’s Eve party and how he really wants to be with her but doesn’t think he will ever get the chance. He lucks out in the end and ‘gets the girl’.

Battle Within

With Battle Within, we gave this track a darker vibe to it than the rest of the album, because on the surface it seems as if it’s just about a relationship, but really the deeper meaning of the song is an ongoing mental battle with anxiety and depression and feeling the need to give up and surrender.

Escape To L.A

Escape To L.A is a feel-good song. It is about wanting to escape the mundane routine of everyday normal life and go somewhere exciting to pursue your dreams.

Lessons Learned

The title track ‘Lessons Learned’ reflects on all of the lessons that have been learned in the different stories in each of the album’s tracks. It subtly acknowledges the struggle of chasing after what you want in life, but above all keeping your focus, remaining determined and reviewing all the decisions made throughout the course of your life.
