Died’s new record Less Life is out May 29 via Boul God. Hear their track “Busy Man” here first.

“For Died, Less Life is an album about facing fear,” the band explain. “The more melodic and digestible nature of the record is a departure from the more technical and meticulous nature of the last EP as well as a testament to the band trying to learn to express themselves in a less overwrought, contrived way. Instead of writing and playing from a place of insecurity and a need to ridicule the often parodied entertainment zeitgeist, the band moved to what is truly important in creative expression by brutally inspecting their own behaviors and mindsets instead of inhabiting an irony-poisoned smugness that was so common on the last project.

“‘Busy Man’ deals with the urge to distract oneself from mundanities and over-saturation in order to avoid unwanted confrontation. By the end of the record, the band is left with more questions than answers, so they’re probably going need a few more albums to figure it all out.”

Died are a four-piece, post-hardcore band based in NYC. Formed three years ago while studying at NYU, Alex Geisel (bass and vocals), Ian White (guitar), Caio Brentar (guitar), and Matthew Leichenger (drums) have released two EPs and toured much of the East Coast. Their commitment to incorporating a vast array of musical influences ranging from hardcore to black metal to folk and everything in between has unified the band members’ visions and inspired them to write music that is confrontational and thought-provoking yet approachable for many types of listeners.

Died started turning heads at the end of 2018 with their second EP,  Anonymized Internal Criminals.  Produced by Arthur Rizk (Code Orange, Power Trip), AIC was rated the number-one hardcore punk EP of the year and number 48 out of all genres on Rate Your Music.

To follow up the highly technical, heavier sound of AIC, Died went back to the studio and crafted an entirely new sound for their upcoming record, Less Life. Mixed and mastered by legendary engineer Steve Fisk (Unwound, Nirvana, Car Seat Headrest), Less Life is the most updated version of Died’s uncanny ability to meld genres together while still crafting truly memorable songs.
