No Lungs’ What You Didn’t Want to Happen Is Happening Right Now is out August 14, and they’re teasing out this new track, “At Metro Square.”

“Fresh off the heels of our first tour earlier, I found myself overwhelmed with inspiration and began to write for what would be the fourth No Lungs album,” the band explained. “‘At Metro Square’ is the first song from that album, titled What You Didn’t Want to Happen Is Happening Right Now.

“Like all of the No Lungs stuff, I recorded this all myself at my house in Arizona. ‘At Metro Square’ came very quickly, and it tells a story of the narrator witnessing a suicide in the wake of a crumbling relationship. The inspiration came from one of the opening scenes in the horror movie The Lodge. ‘

“At Metro Square’ serves as a shift from previous works as far as lyrical writing, embracing storytelling and dark imagery while still maintaining a pop sensibility. What You Didn’t Want to Happen Is Happening Right Now is coming out on August 14, 2020.
