Get through the week with “Candy Crush” by oh?no!ok on their new album, randy warble (or something) out in 2020.
xx,
“This song is a narrative about a kid who discovers the actress Candy Darling through old Warhol movies and ruins his life through devotion to the late actress, becoming addicted to one of those win real money games, aptly named CandyCrush,” the band says. “It’s very much a representation of our obsession as a society to be constantly entertained.”
oh?no!ok. play the kind of music you’d hear blasting forth from a suburban garage in the height of the alt-rock boom of the 90s, but they endeavor to update this scruffy aesthetic with boisterous pop hooks and a dose of raw skate punk. With songs that probe issues such as entitlement, video game addiction and idolization, it’s clear were dealing with a substantial new talent.
