The Laughing Hearts are a 3-piece rock band from Chicago. Combining the energy from classic rock n’ roll with modern pop’s songwriting sensibilities, the group developed a raw and dynamic sound to vividly paint the personal stories in their music.
The band’s members — Tyler Stock, Ari Shellist, and Tom Hipchen — have been writing music and performing together for nearly a decade. The trio first met in a college jazz ensemble while attending the University of Missouri and quickly began playing in bands together. After each of them returned to their hometown of Chicago following graduation, the trio formed The Laughing Hearts in 2017.
New Noise is proud to premiere The Laughing Hearts latest song “Gold” which you can stream below:
“Gold” will appear on The Laughing Hearts’s EP Fast & Free which will be out on Friday, May 21 on Totally Real Records. Preorders are available here.
On their new song “Gold” the band had the following to say:
“I first wrote this song when I was living alone, knew very few people in town, and was distancing myself from a recent break-up. It took me almost a year to condense the lyrics to what they are now and throughout that time I was able to approach them differently as I matured emotionally. This song features the layered piano sounds of a Wurlitzer and a grand piano, and it’s actually the first song of ours written for the piano.”
