The post-black metal/experimental metal band Vattnet, previously known as Vattnet Viskar, just announced they are officially calling it quits.
The band was around as Vattnet Viskar from 2010-2016, and first got recognition as a black-gaze experimental post black metal band. In 2016, they dropped the last part of their name and started taking things in a poppier, more ambient direction, after the departure of guitarist and vocalist Nick Thornbury.
Now, guitarist Chris Alfieri has announced that the band will be no more, although he is also alluding to future musical plans down the line.
“i have been putting off saying this publicly but as you may have noticed vattnet is officially done. i have met so many awesome ppl on this journey over the past 7 years. i will be announcing some awesome news about future music soon. thank you and godspeed.” — chris alfieri (@chris_alfieri) February 22, 2018
It’s not yet clear whether future carnations of Alfieri’s music will include other members of Vattnet or Vattnet Viskar, but fans can at least expect to hear something promising and possibly related from the songwriter in the future.
