Australian post-hardcore outfit Alera have been leaving breadcrumbs for patient fans, known as ‘The Covenant,’ teasing tracks from the release of their upcoming Beware The Snake EP, out November 26.

Alera have built a cult-like following, dropping breadcrumbs for each release to their engaged Discord audience. “SMS” was produced by Christopher Vernon (Belle Haven, Better Half). The title stands for “Sucré mort séraphin: a French double entendre for “sweet angel of death.”
A conceptual track, “SMS” tells a story of deception resulting in the death of an innocent. The track blends a love for nostalgic soaring melodies with crushing heavy sections.
On the track’s accompanying video, clean vocalist Hayden Oakley states:
“Putting together the video for this song was probably the toughest for the release. We don’t know how our lead actress managed to spend the whole day covered in paint like that.”
