New Noise Magazine is excited to be teaming up with The Baskervilles for their video premiere of “Blood In My Mouth.” The U.K. sensation rings this song out with incredibly gigantic vocal hooks that settle overtop a naturally groovy songwriting foundation. The guitars are syncopated with plenty of movement, constantly finding new licks to keep the progressions exciting and energetic. The video finds The Baskervilles confronting death at a table, singing the emotional lyrics right to them.
“We’ve spent the last year working on a collection of singles, rather than an album or EP. The amazing thing about that approach is it takes away the pressure of worrying about how songs would fit together in a package, letting us focus on subjects that are close to our hearts while exploring different sounds within our music. Our previous single ‘Kalashnikov’ has a very political vibe and is all about raw riffs. In contrast ‘Blood in my Mouth’ has more indie/pop vibes to it. It’s a song for anyone who’s lost the one they love and is forced to forever relive the mistakes they made, hearing echoes of all the things you shouldn’t of said, and tasting the one you lost wherever you go, like blood in your mouth. We also made the video ourselves, which meant we could really bring to life that emotion. With ‘Blood in my Mouth’ we wanted to show the turmoil someone goes through when a relationship falls apart, the deep sadness battling with memories of happiness. We felt Día de Muertos was a perfect way to express this contrast of emotion because it celebrates the lives of loved ones that have passed away, focusing on the good memories even though there is sadness underneath.” – The Baskervilles
Hailing from Ipswich, Suffolk, the rock quartet have spent the past 2 years working in the studio with award winning producer Tom Donovan, drawing influences from the likes of The Amazons, Royal Blood and Biffy Clyro. “Blood In My Mouth” treads the line between the raw energy and emotion of their most recent single ‘Kalashnikov’ and the more commercial pop inspired sounds found in their earlier work like ‘Death of a Pop Song’.
Having played studio sessions for BBC Introducing, intimate shows for Sofar Sounds and ‘Nambucca’s Hot Picks 2018’ at London’s Nambucca, The Baskervilles have recently confirmed they will be touring in June 2018 and will be announcing UK wide dates very soon. In the meantime, you can catch The Baskervilles at The Hunter Club, Bury St Edmunds for the Bury Fringe Festival, May 5th.
