Melbourne-based Doctrin, the brainchild of Australian-born singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Dolly Denko released The Deep EP on January 15th, and today we’re proud to bring you the premiere of the music video for “Water Sign” (watch below).
Dolly Denko comments:
“Water is big part of all our lives but on a spiritual level there’s just something I’m drawn to, it’s a very reoccurring theme in my music and in my life. I grew up with a pool and jumping in lakes back home in Australia so I guess there’s just something about it that sticks with you forever, and I find myself most at peace when I’m close to a body of water. As for shooting the video, I was definitely afraid to jump in – we checked for rocks and debris of course but there’s no guarantee. Plus I knew it was going to be freezing. It was all great until I came up for air and it hit me. I was totally screaming for someone to help me out – after running all day I just had no energy left!”
Co-produced by Dolly and Maxwell Moon (Joanna Newsom, Young The Giant) at Seahorse Sound in downtown L.A. the EP features five songs of infectious dark alternative pop that brings to mind shades of Shirley Manson, Placebo and Metric.
