Video Premiere: Fool Saint – ‘Some Kind of Crazy’

Fool Saint

Jersey City, New Jersey collective Fool Saint are sharing the music video for the first single off their debut EP, In a field away, from the city, premiering exclusively here at New Noise.

The band formed in 2020, aiming to ignite societal introspection and conversation through front woman Sara Bruno’s psychedelic storytelling. Her vocals contrast the guitar stylings of Austin Lipinski and Christian Berrigan, alongside the smooth and groove-driven bass lines of Michael Doyle and the energetic drumming from Kyle Meehan.

The band released three singles last year, unofficially titled The Timber Sessions after Timber Studio in Bayonne, New Jersey where they were recorded, ultimately showing the group’s collective influences from Stephen Sonheim to Deftones.

The band’s debut EP will be available to stream on all platforms March 4. The five-song collection has been described as “progressive indie,” as the group unifies each composition through the shared themes of self-reflection, perseverance amid adversity, and a desire to leave positive, ever-lasting change on the world.

Fool Saint were inspired to write “Some Kind of Crazy” after witnessing the open hearts and tenacity of the Standing Rock protestors, fighting for something that can’t speak or fight for itself. Compositionally, the song aims to capture the spirit of early-’60s protest songs and elements of traditional folk music, while combining other elements of dreamy, modern soundscapes to create a sense of mystery and urgency. The song is the band’s call to action and a cry for a collective shift in public consciousness.

The band say, “We write songs about the human experience, not consumption.”
