Central New Jersey hard-rockers Generation Underground are gearing up for the release of their upcoming single, “Pass the Needle,” out October 8.
Watch the lyric video for “Pass The Needle” below:
Generation Underground came together in 2014 through lead vocalist and guitarist, Mike Florentine, who was later joined by drummer Matt Schussler and guitarist Kyle Conlin.
“Pass the Needle” chronicles the journey of overcoming social pressures revolving drug use. The song challenges the glamorization of destructive drug use and encourages listeners to carve their own path.
In the band’s unapologetic, raw, and brooding lyrics ripe with the challenges of adolescence, it’s evident that Generation Underground draw musical influences from acts like Linkin Park, Slipknot, Parkway Drive and Avenged Sevenfold.
On the songwriting process behind their latest single, Florentine states:
“‘Pass The Needle’ was inspired by me watching some of my friends continuing to abuse drugs and believing that I needed to join them in order to write good music. The song focuses on my journey to slowly rid myself of those toxic relationships and no longer associate with those people who were a bad influence in my life.”
