Nashville’s idle threat are sharing the new video, “no turning back,” and you can check it out right here at New Noise.
Since they started created music together as idle threat back in 2014, they’ve built a reputation for weaving hope within conversations of daily struggles, a theme they also embraced in their 2021 debut album, blurred visions, where “no turning back” appears. The record as a whole is about control: the lack of control, the illusion of control, and finding peace without having control.
Through blurred visions, the band look to offer listeners a relatable conversation surrounding the fight for stability and a safe space to struggle.
Vocalist Ernie Fabian chats more about the video and narrative:
“For the live shots, we knew we wanted a spot that had a rustic look to it, like an old church or a house that was overrun with nature. Josh, our video director/editor, found the spot we ended up going with in a paint company’s warehouse in Nashville that had built that specific room for videos and movies. It had the rustic look we were wanting with the burnt, paint-stripped walls and broken windows and really sets the mood of the video.
“As for the narrative piece, it was based off of The Pilgrim’s Progress, a story about a man on a journey across all kinds of terrains (struggles of life) to a place of joy and freedom. Our buddy Zach acted as the man who chooses to face his fear—not turning back—to jump from the literal and proverbial cliff into what ultimately would bring him life and freedom. In the video, you can tell he’s afraid to take that leap with his future, but after physical and internal struggle, he relinquishes control and dives in.”
