Video Premiere: Such A Mess – “Better Weather”

Such A Mess - Better Weather video

We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Such A Mess‘ new music video for their song “Better Weather” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s upcoming EP Stay Right Where You Are, which is scheduled to be released on March 10th through Common Ground Records. You can pre-order the album here.

Such A Mess guitarist/vocalist Mark Reynolds comments on “Better Weather”:

“This song is fundamentally about how, as we change over time, we look to the connections we once had as relics of the person we used to be, and may look at them fondly and with very nostalgic sentiment, but ultimately we are not who we once were and the changing nature of those relationships reflects that. This song illustrates the moment of clarity, the moment of ‘I want me to be me, and I want that to be okay. I want you to be you, and I want that to be okay as well.'”

Such A Mess guitarist David Solis comments on the video:

“These new songs had a lot to do with what’s come out of touring hard the last year and a half. It’s definitely changed us as a band as well as people and in our relationships. We had all these tour videos, taken by friends, and they represented the songs and our progression really well. So I started out just trying to make a couple teaser videos for the new record, but it kind of turned into a music video on its own. This is what we live for, and I think that definitely comes through in this video.”

Such A Mess was born out of the early days of the sun-soaked California pop punk revival, when members from several southern California bands began writing songs together for fun. In 2010, Such a Mess released their first song demo, “Times Like These,” which quickly began gathering strong buzz online, followed by the Times Like These EP, produced by Johnny Liu (Stanley and the Search), in December 2011.

From the song and EP’s popularity, the band won the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands, securing a spot on the 2012 Vans Warped Tour. After a long writing period throughout 2013 (including a second consecutive Warped Tour spot), Such A Mess released their debut LP, Good Intentions Giving Way, on April 29, 2014. The LP, co-produced by Johnny Liu and Kyle Black (All Time Low, New Found Glory, Pierce the Veil), highlights the band’s strong punk rock roots, juxtaposed against a new-found emo revivalist affinity. The band has continued to dive deeper into that emotional space as lead singer Sebastian Egurvide says about their new music, “We’re not the happy boys we were a few years ago. Let’s face it, life sucks and it gets the best of us. This is us pouring our hearts out to the world.”
