We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Moira’s music video for their song “Machines” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s debut EP Asleep / Repeat / Awake, which can be found on Spotify, iTunes, and all other major digital distributors.

The band comments on the music video:

“When we decided to make a music video for ‘Machines,’ it was important to us that we created something that felt just as haunting as the song itself. Our friend and filmmaker, Patrick Bertram Hague, had recently discovered that some friends of ours were renting out this incredible old mansion in Dayton’s historic district, and upon visiting it ourselves, we knew it was the perfect setting. Stepping through the front door of that house was like transcending into a long forgotten world; the brightly colored wallpaper, the ornate chandeliers, a fireplace in every room. It was magic. According to the home owners, The Wright Brothers themselves had once played a game of pool on the third floor back in the early 1900’s. It was one of those indescribable places where you could just feel the history haunting the very walls of the house, and that feeling fit perfectly with this song.”

Moira, the Dayton, Ohio dream-pop duo, paint meticulously layered soundscapes coupled with haunting vocals and intricate rhythms that reveal to listeners their meticulous and involved creative process.

Formerly of Vanity Theft, lead vocalist and pianist, Alicia Grodecki, has honed in on her pop sensibilities while taking them to a new realm of haunting melodies and ethereal Rhodes compositions. Backed by Aaron hardy’s unrivaled rhythms, Moira’s blend of modern electronic and old-school analog instruments gives Asleep/Repeat/Awake a sound that is eerily familiar, yet wholly unique.

Their single, “Machines” is a perfect example of their hybrid methods. Opening with hypnotic piano over top of calculated samples, this track organically builds into a whirlwind of quick witted drums and subtle refrain that encapsulates the EP in its entirety.

On their debut release, Moira has seamlessly forged a modest collection of songs with the ingenuity of a band that has been writing densely layered music for well over a year. For those seeking infectious, dreamy pop that has been laced with a heavy dose of wistful despair, Asleep/Repeat/Awake is not to be missed.

The band is currently booking summer tour dates, which will be posted on their Facebook in the following months.
