More Kicks’ new, self-titled album is out today via Dirt Cult Records. Before you hear the whole thing, check out this new video for “Blame It On The Satellite.”

“‘Blame It On The Satellite’ is about not taking responsibility for bad or sad things that are happening to you,” says Sulli of More Kicks. “It’s easier to just vaguely place the blame elsewhere, on some force hovering above you or whatever. Musically, I’m not sure where it came from, but I do know it’s the usual More Kicks thing of cramming in slightly too many words over barely controlled chaos.
“We had two days to record the album, recording live on to tape. I was a bit concerned how long we might need for this one because it’s one of the trickier songs to nail. Rhythmically, it’s pretty frenetic. But, then the metaphorical red light came on and we just blasted it out in one take. No overdubs, one vocal take, done. That was a proud two-and-a-half minutes for me.
“Video-wise, it was similarly no fuss. It cost us the price of a pack of playing cards and some Turkish food for our friend Rizzo.”
