Peppy Pep Pepper just dropped a new record, Granny Chic, out now via Modern Tapes. Check out the record’s latest video, “Design for Living.”
“Timeless design stays with us,” the band says. “Concepts can be reused and can stay relevant and modern regardless of where we are in time. This is an extension of the idea behind ‘Design For Living.’ The footage is taken from How a Watch Works (1949) which can be found in the pre-linger archive. It illustrates how retro design can still feel futuristic.”
Peppy Pep Pepper is the project of incognito artist Violet Candide. Started in Violet’s flat in Vienna, Austria, this is her second release. The first, Distortion, was released on the Vienna-based label Transformer Music. Peppy Pep Pepper also appeared on the German label Cold Transmission Music’s Zeitgeist v.9 compilation.
Preferring anonymity to performing live, Peppy Pep Pepper still could be considered a part of the European ,DIY, synth/wave scene, utilizing cold and beautiful synth and drum machine constructions layered with minimalist vocals in the style of bands like ADULT., The Normal, or Void Vision.
