The first release since their debut album, Sky Caught Fire are sharing their new single and lyric video, “Blind Loyalty,” premiering exclusively here at New Noise.
Sky Caught Fire started in 2020, utilizing technology to connect to each other along with their listeners. They came together with one vision: for their passion and honesty to be heard in their music. They blend heavy, energetic, melodic, soothing, and abrupt sounds, and while they are often described as hardcore or post-hardcore punk, they are unabashed by the boundaries of genre.
Their debut, No Cure For Violence, was the first of a planned, three-volume release, though a band member change and COVID restrictions caused delays on the second album.
Lyricist, guitarist, and vocalist Steve Driscoll talks more about the new track:
“‘Blind Loyalty’ was somewhat of a cathartic release for me. I have struggled with mental health issues for most of my adult life and at points felt like I was being driven by something that was beyond my control. During my journey, I realized there are things that are just out of our control, and it’s completely okay to have to navigate that. The main message is that we all make choices but have to remember there are always consequences, whether we want to accept it or not, and sometimes it’s OK to walk away from situations that hinder one’s growth.
“My goal with this song was to convey the duality of dealing with the ups and downs of life. I wanted the heavy sections to encapsulate the feelings of hopelessness/anger/frustration while the chorus expressed a hopefulness that things can always get better”
