Video Premiere: Surrealized – ‘Animal’

SURREALIZED

Surrealized are preparing for the release of their upcoming album, Density, with the unveiling of their new video for the track, “Animal.”

Surrealized are a synthwave/future bass band, embracing live vocal loops, danceable beats, and evocative synths wrapped up in string, horn, and psychedelic layers. They are the brainchild of Kimo Muraki and Robert Sydow, beginning in Seattle in 2009 as an experiment, combining wildly different genres for parties and festivals. They spent the following years perfecting their sound, adding producer/keyboardist Markus Von Prause.

Sydow was unfortunately hospitalized in 2014 with an illness that resulted in kidney failure, with the last seven years filled with numerous surgeries and efforts to work toward finding Sydow a transplant. The other two members have stood by his side, and they collectively continue to rise to the challenge of creating and recording new material to share with audiences.

The band chat more about the song: “Written in a remote cabin in the high desert grasslands of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Oregon, ‘Animal’ is a sonic anthem of the human condition, a calling-out of the struggles of societal and cultural conflict, the inspiration of standing up for love and the power of fighting from the heart … embracing our “Animal.”  The song conveys a unique futuristic progressive house groove embracing melodic stylings of retro and neo ’80s synth pop creating a landscape that is entirely infectious, unforgettable, and timeless. ”
