The Nervous Hex are gearing up to release their self-titled, debut EP on November 5, and ahead of the project, they are sharing the single and lyric video, “Wash.”
The band are based in both coasts, with Traster (guitar/vocals) in Southern California and Corey Zaloom (bass/vocals) and Dylan Schultz (guitar/vocals) in Brooklyn. The members of Ther Nervous Hex are old friends and former bandmates who have essentially reconvened in a new formation to discover their new sound.
The new EP is meant to “announce this band into existence,” according to Traster, with the trio already hard at work on new music and planning a 2022 tour.
Traster opens up about “Wash” and some of the themes explored in the sound and lyrics, “Sonically, I was in a deep Shoegaze rabbit hole for this one. It was during a particularly rainy winter in Portland, and I was messing around with a lot of textures and weirdo tunings and stuff. Lyrically, I wanted to explore the idea of looking inward to spark revolution, whether that be a personal revolution, cultural revolution, or both. Side-stepping the notion that there is going to be a savior that swoops in and really changes things.”
