Florida rockers yeah, sure have announced the release of their much-anticipated debut EP, peel, due out October 29.
Watch the video for the group’s latest single “swamp tooth” below:
yeah, sure’s blend of 90s alt/grunge energy and 60s pop/rock dreaminess has made them fan favorites of the rapidly growing nu-grunge scene, and their take on relevant lyrical topics like technology overload and pandemic stagnation, coupled with a blast of retro visual aesthetics, scratches the itch we all have for something that’s simultaneously modern and nostalgic.
Besides their latest single, peel includes yeah, sure’s previous releases, “squid pig,” “hot brains,” and “hello there,” alongside a brand-new acoustic version of “hot brains.”
This energetic intersection of grunge and surf explores the addiction struggles of drummer Hondu Knight through lingering lyrics set to a shimmery sludge. The fully self-produced music video for swamp tooth also showcases the band’s indie filmmaking background in a campy creepfest inspired by classic B-horror movies and shot in the sweltering swamps of Florida.
On the track’s release, vocalist Alex Knight states:
“When we started writing songs for “peel,” our goal was to write the music that we wanted to listen to, which came out as a blend of 90s energy and 60s dreaminess. The pandemic pushed us into handling everything ourselves, from writing and recording the music to directing and editing the videos, so everything has a DIY-style authenticity to it. The video for “swamp tooth” is a perfect example. We got inspired by classic B-horror movies and went and shot this ourselves in the swamps of Florida.”
