Video Spotlight: Antagonista – ‘Indigenous Geometry’

Antagonista

Brooklyn-based rockers Antagonista released the video for “Indigenous Geometry” earlier this year, and you can check it out here at New Noise.

Antagonista combine elements of intensity, commitment, and abrasiveness into their music, which makes an immediate impression. Their unique sound calls out to punk, scrappy folk, garage rock, and even R & B and jazz. The band’s songs are automatically memorable, with their offbeat vibe, unexpected chord changes, and harmonic detours.

The writing on “Indigenous Geometry” is no exception, just as smart and poetic with music to match, also fitting snugly into the rest of Antagonista’s discography.

Singer Sean Davenport is the focus of the video, as her snarls at the camera, determined to box his way out of his constraints. The video features Davenport in an iron chair, backed up to the white walls of starkly lit room. His presence gives a sort of wolf-like demeanor, as the video cuts to a dog, back to Davenport, the images soon switching so fast it’s hard to distinguish the two figures.
