After re-emerging in the hardcore scene after more than 20 years with their EP YRUDFL, Los Angeles band Dead Fucking Last, or DFL, are sharing their new single and music video, “Watch Your Step,” featuring The Donots frontman Ingo Donot. Check it out right here at New Noise.
DFL’s latest single echoes the band’s beginnings in the ’90s, enlisting producer Mario “C” Caldato Jr., who not only produced DFL’s first two records My Crazy Life (1991) and Proud To Be (1995) but was also a crucial part of the Beastie Boys albums Paul’s Boutique (1989), Check Your Head (1992), Ill Communication (1994), and Hello Nasty (1998).
DFL will also be guests at the Austrian punk rock festival SBÄM Fest and might even see a guest appearance by the Donots, who are also in the lineup. Frontman Ingo Donot also shouted along with a few lines in the new track.
Donot explains the meaning of the collaboration on Instagram :
“DFL are one of the earliest points of contact for me with US punk rock. In the early ’90s, as a teenager, I basically inhaled everything that was on the Epitaph and FAT roster. And what can I say? Now I’m featured on a song by DFL, which, to top it all off, was mixed by Mario C., the quasi fourth Beastie Boy. WTF.”
