Brooklyn’s Tree River have the uncanny ability to win listeners over with their colorful and exuberant pop-rock, and their latest single out today is unequivocal proof.
“Thought Bubbles” is the first new song to come from the four-piece since 2019’s Garden EP and was produced by Kevin Dye (gates) at Two Worlds Recording Studio in Whitestone, NY.

“Memories, they always fade/ But nothing fucks with your face,” vocalist Trevor Friedman playfully sings over guitarist Phil Cohen’s genre-bending composition. The duality and harmony between these two are what makes Tree River so special; their chemistry is palpable from just one listen.
Thankfully, more new music is on the way in 2022. The band recently signed to esteemed indie label Big Scary Monsters, who also re-released Garden in September.
The video for “Thought Bubbles” stars the band—including bassist/backup vocalist Julie Rozansky and drummer Zac Pless—as scientists investigating a mysterious, shape-shifting body of water. Directed by Kyle McCarthy, it’s as sweet and silly as the band members themselves, while also paying homage to the fluidity of their sound.
