VLE Records Signs Dutch Punk Band Bitter Grounds

Bitter Grounds is a four-piece punk rock band from Utrecht, Netherlands.

After watching the energy and urgency of their old punk rock scene decay into a boring, self-involved mess, four friends finally decided they had had enough. After all, where’s the fun in a world where grit is replaced with style, street-level attitude with mainstream rock sensibilities, mohawks are swapped for beards, and all around frustration makes way for a general, wholesome sense of well-being? There’s only so many triple-roasted, freshly ground bio-organic espressos a person can take.

After having played in several punk rock bands throughout the past fifteen years (Beans, Last to Go, Frightening Fiction, Dead Weights, and Landmine Heart) the quartet decided to rekindle their love for a dirty mix of punk, ska and reggae. But don’t expect no happy sounds…

…this band was formed on Bitter Grounds!

VLE Records label owner Gregg White had this to say about the new addition:

After hearing the band’s new single “Radio Silence” we knew we had found something that our current fan-base would appreciate and respond to. After a bit more research, we previewed tracks like “Halos” and “Bad Plan” that showcase more of the ska/dirty-reggae sound the band is known for – it’s as if punk icons Rancid had employed the vocal talents of Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead or Matt Henson from Seattle punk band Noi!se while recording their ‘Life Won’t Wait’ album. Very cool stuff. – and so we started talking with the band about their upcoming record. We are excited to be coordinating the upcoming U.S. release later this year, and look forward to seeing the band work toward their first set of U.S. appearances, scheduled for 2017.”
