WATERMEDOWN, the solo project of vocalist/guitarist Jonny Mays, is now debuting a new song called “Locks and Blinds.” The singer is known for wearing their heart on their sleeve, shouting and singing through melodies with an urgency in their voice. “Locks and Blinds” is no different, finding the singer howling over bright guitars and a punchy drum beat.
The new one-off single follows the Somewhere Sleepless EP, his first studio-recorded release that came out last year, which pushed WATERMEDOWN into new musical territory that built and expanded on his already intense signature sound. Mays’ vocal work throughout the EP showcases emotional rawness with a visceral force, effortlessly building from a delicate, near-whisper to a quivering, heart wrenching shout.
