New Noise Magazine is pleased to be bringing forth the music video for “National Harbor, MD” from The Weak Days. The Weak Days are a two piece Virginia band in pursuit of writing the best riffs and having the greatest time around. “National Harbor, MD” is from the band’s upcoming Possum Records release, TIGHT, out July 7th, 2017. The song finds The Weak Days crushing through ravishing refrains with belted melodies and rolling drums. The guitars by Tommy McPhail are fuzz driven fun, giving the song a raw texture with a punk aesthetic. Dustin Reinink’s drums are a solid framework for the song, with a vocal delivery that offers reflection.
“National Harbor, Maryland is a fake city – a manufactured tourist trap stuffed with overpriced Harley Davidson t-shirts and sterile experiences just outside D.C. Last year, I (Dustin) found myself there for a video game convention. Around 5 AM, I was on top of a parking garage overlooking this gigantic neon ferris wheel with a friend who was having a panic attack about their life, failures, and the future. My friend asked me “what will we say when we die and look back on all of this?” This song and record is just one answer to that question – it’s about finding hope in even the most inauthentic of places.”
“We find ourselves saying ‘everything is tight’ genuinely and mantric – even through van breakdowns, hospital visits, and bad nights on tour. On TIGHT, we explore the many different meanings the phrase can take on; like with my friend that night, who sought fleeting positivity despite difficulty. We have found that by being there for others, striving towards positive mental health, and practicing compassion/empathy in places where there may be none, everything can be tight. We hope this song and record can be a catalyst for other interpretations and deliberate action. We look forward to seeing yours.”
