Punk, I think, is a pretty broad term but in my mind it describes anyone who isn’t afraid to be themselves. I think a lot of people view punk as one mindset or one set of people or one genre of music but I don’t feel that way at all. I think it’s a way for people to say, “I don’t care what you think, I am going to dress how I want to dress, I am going to act how I want to act, I am going to play whatever music I want to play and if it goes against what is ‘normal’ then so be it.”
Punk is a way for people to express themselves and for them to be proud of the way they choose to express themselves. For me, it has been a way for me to live a life I am completely proud of, to be transparent and to love my life and what I do. People who have this mindset always try to look out for one another, and as musicians involved in the punk scene we always try to help out each other succeed in different ways. Punk is important to us, and it’s a lifestyle I hope I never see die.
