Eddy Rodriguez is a Mexico City native and the frontman of At Zero, a Chicago local band have released their EP Three. You can listen to it in its entirety below.
A mix of FIDLAR, Twin Peaks, Wavves and White Reaper, At Zero spews a punchy intro coupled with thrashy, layered vocals.
Eddy Rodriguez talks about the band’s origin:
At Zero started out a long time ago. We tried to be an actual band for a bit but that didn’t work out. I was too lazy to change the name and I don’t think the past members would care so I left it the same and have been doing this on my own for the most part would help from very generous and cool friends from time to time.
Making the music:
I wrote and recorded 2 short EPs by myself a few years ago that I was stoked on but I really wanted to do something very different from what I did in the past.
I started playing shows live with Joe Henderer and the songs I had in mind for this EP started changing and as we added more people and components to the live shows, the songs really took off in the best way possible.
Once everything was more or less solidified I knew the only person that I would want to record these songs was Matthew Frank of Lifted Bells/Pacemaker. He and I instantly connected on what we wanted these songs to sound like and it was a very easy recording process, I think. Lots of 7-11 taquitos were consumed.
The whole thing has been done since October 2016. I had to move away to Mexico City and I kinda just sat on it. Ready to not worry about this anymore so some people can hear it.
At Zero will play their record release show TONIGHT at Quencher’s Saloon in Chicago, IL with Boss Fight, Regular Oatmeal, and Bob Nanna (Hey Mercedes, Braid). You can RSVP to the Facebook event page here.
