Live music can be presented in a variety of ways. Sometimes it’s your typical local show with a few bands from around town playing a divey establishment for a small cover charge. Other times it’s a gigantic festival happening in a field off the beaten path that’s chock full of famous acts and a few up and comers. What’s the happy medium between those two? Would it be a series of shows happening all over the globe with a common message? Today, Fullerton, California garage rock label Burger Records is putting on the fifth annual Burger Revolution with that exact vision in mind.
Taking place in parts of the world ranging to right here in the United States, the far reaches of South America, every corner of Europe and even South Africa, this annual celebration of amplification promises to be bigger than ever. At the News Café in Pawtucket, RI there are a handful of acts from all over the New England area performing including hometown hero Harvey Garbage, Providence psychedelic groove masters PsychoTropics, local weirdo punks Goon Planet, garage shredders Snotrockett, Boston surf pop trio Today Junior, fellow Bostonians Strange Fuzz, rock & roll kings Dead Elect and New Hampshire power pop act People Skills. Burger Records labelmates White Mystery will be at the Chop Shop in Chicago performing with The Yolks and Motorcycle. At Burger Records’ headquarters Sarah Bathe Nelson and Easy Love will be bringing the noise for a free all ages extravaganza. These are only a few of the numerous shows that’ll be happening all over the USA.

In the Brazilian city of Sao Paolo, Deb and The Mentals will be joined by Mohlo Negro to light the stage ablaze at Estudio Costella. There’s a stacked show happening at Xtreme Bowling in Johannesburg, South Africa featuring The Moths, The Bad Ass Execs, The Make Overs, The Myths, Mouse and Nathan Scott Phillips. The English town of Stoke will be getting rocked as Dan and The Dans, Mobina and Short Stuff plan on taking over The Stoke Bar. Radio stations such as Bang Bang Radio in Italy, WRLR 98.3 in Round Lake Heights, Illinois and KZSC in Santa Cruz, California will also be having special broadcasts to ring in the Burger Revolution. It’s an event that anyone can be part of, either by organizing a show, putting on a listening party or even doing a radio show special.
Make sure to spend your Saturday night at one of these shows because there’s a guarantee that one of them is happening in your neck of the woods. This revolution won’t be televised but it’ll surely be heard.
