British punk rockers Lambrini Girls brought their adrenaline-filled, politically charged good time to Detroit’s iconic Majestic Theatre on September 28 with special guests Big Special and Big Girl. The lineup delivered high-powered performances filled with ingenuity, originality, self-expression, and some ridiculously fun audience participation.
NYC’s Big Girl kicked off the night with an electric performance that left the crowd happy and pumped. Before their song “Shoplifting is good. Everyone should do it,” frontwoman Kaitlin Pelkey playfully asked the crowd who had shoplifted before and where. The band kept the audience engaged and made sure everyone was having the best time possible. If you were unfamiliar with their music when you got there, you undoubtedly left as a fan.
Next up, Big Special from Birmingham, U.K., may be a two-piece, but they have a big sound you can’t ignore. During their song “Trees,” vocalist Joe Hicklin and drummer Callum Moloney grabbed one of the cymbals, jumped in the crowd, and got the room jumping with delight while the band chanted their lyrics: “No peace/ Another pilgrimage for trees/ At home I smoke on my knees/ Head in my hands like praying/ The only reason that I’m earning/ The only reason that I’m paying.” The infectious words mixed with the thrilling sight was definitely a first for me.
Lambrini Girls closed out the night, delivering an action-packed, captivating, and thought-provoking performance. Vocalist Phoebe Lunny kept things interesting and fun, jumping into the crowd and chatting with fans, especially making sure their queer fanbase felt seen, heard, and accepted.
Toward the end of their set, before performing their biggest hit, “Cuntology 101,” Phoebe once again jumped into the crowd, insisting on creating the biggest mosh pit the venue has ever seen while making sure no one got hurt in the process. “What do you do if you see someone fall down in the pit? You pick them up.” After starting the chant “When I say fuck, you say fascism,” and counting down from five, the giant, newly opened pit erupted into a sea of ecstatic fans. Friendly moshing, crowd surfing, dancing, and sing-alongs were happening everywhere you turned throughout their stellar set.
The Lambrini Girls 2026 tour continues across the states before concluding in Los Angeles on October 9. The Girls will return to the U.K. and Europe next spring. Their live show will leave a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to attend, and this amazing trio on the bill are not to be missed.
