Just a year after releasing their debut album, New Jersey’s Gel are back with a new single, “Mirage.” The single is a precursor to the new EP Persona, officially set to release on August 16, so mark. your. calendars. Gel are quickly brandishing their reputation throughout the hardcore scene, not just in their hometown but across the U.S. and worldwide.
With this new music also comes the announcement of Gel’s new partnership with Blue Grape Music who will now be representing the band under the label. “Mirage” is the band’s first release with the label, and to accompany it, they have delivered a raw yet powerfully visual music video which is the perfect representation of their musical overtones. The video was directed by Eric Richter, the directorial genius who has worked with other bands such as Knocked Loose, Jesus Piece, Koyo, and more.
Since putting out Only Consent last March, Gel have quite literally been touring nonstop, and they are geared up to keep that momentum going for the remainder of the year. With an entirely new artillery of music and worldwide tour dates locked in, they are on a rampage and not about to let anything get in the way. The band are scheduled to perform at several stages across the festival circuit this season, which included last weekend’s Sick New World, as well as Download, Primavera Sound, and Aftershock.
Looking forward to the new EP, it was produced through a lot of collaborative efforts and is said to have pushed the band towards new directions.
“It’s a step forward; it’s different; it’s catchy, but it still really sounds like us,” comments vocalist Sami Kaiser.
Persona is available for preorder here in several exclusive vinyl variants. You can access their full upcoming tour list and purchase tickets here.
