News: Good Terms Release ‘Hear Me Out’

Good Terms

Emo rockers Good Terms released their new song “Hear Me Out,” the band’s debut single on the record label Secret Friends Music Group. The tune will appear on Good Terms’ upcoming, full-length album.

“When you’re on opposing sides of the political spectrum and current culture war with your family, it can be impossible to communicate about your differences without anger and chaos,” Good Terms guitarist and producer Zach Boucher explains. “’Hear Me Out’ is an earnest, intricate, and energetic song about feeling like a foreigner in your own home.”

Good Terms blends styles, crafting a sound that the band aptly describe as “heavy emo pop.” The chunky guitar chords combine with the pounding pocket drums, comparable to, say, Four Year Strong. But some of the melodies are poppy. And the pipes of vocalist Brian (Kid) McShae rivals those of Matty Healy (The 1975) or Knox.

“We want to challenge the notion that fans of pop bands like The 1975 don’t resonate more technically complex music,” McShae says. “We refuse to accept the misconception that heavy rock music can’t successfully put substantiative storytelling on display without losing the attention span of listeners.”

Good Terms will support Boys Of Fall and Driveways on separate tours. They’ll also join The Wonder Years—Good Terms are guided by the professional hand of The Wonder Years guitarist Casey Cavaliere—and Knuckle Puck on an upcoming tour. Keep a close eye on Good Terms here.
