Gwar founding member Chuck Varga, who is also known as The Sexecutioner, has unfortunately passed away. He was 68 years old at the time of his passing. The announcement came through the band’s bassist Casey Orr (Beefcake the Mighty) on September 25. Chuck passed away in peace, while still holding his dear wife Bambi’s hand.
Orr says:
“(Varga was) most likely being welcomed into Valhalla right now. Raise your glass and tell his tales. Legends never die. Hail Varga! Hail Sexecutioner!”
During his time, Varga played a key role in designing the band’s costumes and artwork, including Brockie’s Oderus attire. This year in April, it was announced that Varga’s was diagnosed with cancer. GWAR also started a fundraising effort to cover the treatment, hospice and living costs of Varga so that his wife could be with him for all the time.
Bandmate Bob Gorman (Bonesnapper) says:
“The influence of his illustrations, character designs, performances, and artistic vision can still be felt throughout GWAR today. His legacy will remain with us forever.”
