Heavy duo Hell Comes Home take a personal look at the battle against addiction and the discourse surrounding it, on their bullish new single “Numb The Noise.”
The in-your-face potency of deathcore collides with riff heavy, technical metal on the new track, as the Southern duo delivery a track but honest and unerringly resonant.
Vocalist Sam Simmons shares: “‘Numb the Noise’ is a raw portrayal of addiction as a survival mechanism in a world that feels unbearable. It explores how substances become the default escape—not for thrill, but to feel normal, to function, to interact, to cope. The song confronts the reality that for many, the bottle and the pills aren’t indulgences; they’re armor against the chaos, the trauma, and the pressure to perform.”
Simmons continues: “The track also pushes back against judgment from the outside. People are quick to label and condemn without understanding the depth of what someone’s battling. The song demands empathy, not pity—and challenges listeners to see addiction not as weakness, but as a desperate response to a world that never stops screaming.”
Despite only debuting last year, with the monstrous “Demons,” Hell Comes Home have racked up an impressive following, with January’s debut EP, Dying Breed, notching a six-figure audience.
The tracks are a sharp amalgam of Hell Comes Home’s dexterous heavy influences. Brutal riffs, compelling guitar solos, and guttural vocals combine to round off a sound rich in atmosphere and unafraid to firmly reject the party line.
Whereas Simmons’ influences came at the pique of the MySpace era’s metalcore breakout, Stambuck notes thrash’s big four as his entry into the genre. It’s perhaps no surprise then that new material raids the raw musicianship of some of metal’s forefathers, whilst delving into the farthest reaches of the contemporary iteration of the genre.
Following on from October’s “Don’t Go Gentle Into That Good Night,” Hell Comes Home return with a track both poignant and potent. “Numb The Noise” delves into the battle against addiction and the misconceptions and stereotypes surrounding the topic. It’s both a battle cry for anyone fighting against dependence and a plea for empathy and understanding from those surrounding them.
