Multi-talented actor, comedian, writer and producer John Early have released his new cover song “Rock The Boat” by Aaliyah with The Lemon Squares. The song is from his upcoming album Now More Than Ever. The album will be released on September 13, and it serves as a musical expansion of his HBO comedy special of the same name. The brilliant music video accompanying the song was directed by Emily Allan and Leah Hennessey.

Early shares his thoughts:
“The prompt for this cover was basically what if Burt Bacharach had written ‘Rock the Boat’. Aaliyah is one of my favorite artists of all time. This song is one of my favorites to do live with The Lemon Squares. And make no mistake, that is my dad and his best friend Steve on the horns.”
Early also talks about the video:
“As most of you know I have recently been institutionalized for a severe case of Fosse Mania. So the idea for this video was All That Jazz meets Janet’s Pleasure Principle. We had a tube of mylar, some flashlights, and choreography by Tony nominee Sam Pinkleton. I think we tore!”
