CANDY released a dangerously sweet new single this week, along with a music video, ahead of their upcoming album It’s Inside You out at the beginning of June.
“Love Like Snow” diverges from their classic chaos driven brutality and incorporates a softer edge, but don’t worry, there’s still plenty of edge. The track features vocals from MIRSY, the side project of Marisa Shriar from Fleshwater, and mmph, the alias of Los Angeles producer Sae Heum Han, who mixed and co-produced the song.
“Love Like Snow” incorporates a host of combative musical elements that end up meshing well together and ultimately create an altogether unique sound. This is the kind of track that you can easily play two or three times in a row just to take in all the composition involved and like it more and more with each listen. Paired with the music video, the listening and viewing experience starts to feel like an odd yet entrancing fever dream. The video was directed by Michael Quick, CANDY’s own guitarist and songwriter.
This new song is a glimpse into some of what fans can expect from It’s Inside You as they introduce melodic strides and electronic production mixed into their breakneck instrumentation. As far as we can tell, CANDY are not afraid to take experimentation to the next level in order to deliver something we have not only never heard before, but never quite expected.
