News: Old City Signs To Get Better Records

The Philadelphian punk/hip-hop group, Old City, have joined the ranks of Get Better Records. To celebrate this commemorate this event, they have released a new single, “Anthem.”

Stream “Anthem” here.

“Anthem” is set in a wild house party scene, where drunken punks scream lyrics to “Bicycle Races,” the smoke alarm going off for over 3 hours and skinheads put “TV Party” on repeat with intent to fight anyone who tries to change the song.

The frontman, Tr38cho (Tre-Ocho), leads listeners through the revelry with clanking drinks with friends whilst ensuring the girl in the corner gets into her Uber safe and sound. Old City has a way to throw listeners into a whirlwind of punk infused hip-hop. The track weaves a tapestry of influences with samples from A Global Threat, Action, Against Me!, B52s, Bad Brains, Beastie Boys, Big D and The Kids Table, Black Flag, Cockney Rejects, Dandy Warhols, Gorilla Biscuits, Lower Class Brats, Operation Ivy, Paint it Black, Rancid, Rise Against, The Ejected, The Muffs, The Ramones, and The Varukers.
