News: Oranssi Pazuzu Drop New Single ‘Valotus’

Oranssi Pazuzu

Finnish black metallers Oranssi Pazuzu have released a video for their latest single “Valotus,” from forthcoming album Muuntautuja. The clip is certainly <ahem> “eye catching” to say the least. You can thank Craig Murray who directed and shot the video for any nightmares you may have after watching it.

The video is age-restricted, but that hasn’t stopped us from posting a clip from it. And just between you and I, if you click here, it’ll take you to “Valotus” so you can witness its unique nature firsthand.

Valotus

Director Craig Murray recently posted the following on Oranssi Pazuzu’s Facebook page:

“Behind the scenes of the Oranssi Pazuzu Valotus music video:

“With so many things to build in a very short time, not to mention the actual shoot in Cornwall and London, this was one of the most testing shoots I’ve ever done.

“Im a strong believer of just using what is necessary to get the shot on camera that you want; I’m not a professional makeup artist, sculptor or DOP, so I use pretty primitive lowbrow methods and effects
to achieve my end results.

“Pretty much everything starts from clay ( Monster or Chavant), its then moulded in silicone and cast in Polyurethane, clear resin or Latex ( I’m naughty, but it works!)

“Photography-wise, I just use a Blackmagic with vintage Minolta Rokkor lenses and a very minimal set up. Close-up eye shots were done with an iPhone of my own tired edit eyes 🙂.

“For the on-set animation, I took the decision to shoot it as long pieces of video whilst I animated (which I cut up afterwards). The reason for this was so that I could easily match up the look of the shots with the live action afterwards ( my DSLR has a very different look).

“For the post production animation, I used a canon 600D DSLR, with straight intervalometer stop motion and long exposure animation.

“The liquids were shot in a base suspension fluid on a turntable, this allows you to sculpt with the colors and textures inside the base fluid for a longer periods of time until it gets too muddy( usually around 30 mins) I find it far more interesting and progressive as apposed to ink drops in water / saline.

“The eyes out make up was super lowbrow, a latex piece with cotton wool, painted up and then finalized with Robert smith original blood. Joss was completely blind for all these scenes!”
