News: The Calamatix Drop Soulful Track ‘Boom Bap’ via Hellcat Records, Announce Album

The Calamatix

California band The Calamatix have released a new single via Hellcat Records ahead of their album.

The genre bending quartet from Los Angeles has succeeded in this exploration of an audio masterpiece. They share their latest single “Boom Bap” ahead of their debut, self-titled album via Hellcat Records September 20. This self-titled album unleashes a rocksteady blend of ska, punk, and R&B with a splash of soul intertwined.  Frontwoman Raylin Joy tells a story about confronting life and issues straight on so that we can evolve in our lives.

“The ego can be a scary thing to handle, but it has to be done if you want to grow as a person,” she explains. “Staying focused on the bigger picture is the key; distractions are the enemy when you’ve got shit to do.”

“Boom Bap” is on a deeper level with catchy rhythms and definitely a song to listen to while yo drive down the road with the windows down and your hair in the wind. That beat is super dope, and their intuitive, melodic sound is hypnotic and heartfelt. The band come together for this debut album, combining their raw talents, authentic style, and emotional journey.

“At the end of the day, some of the best things are born out of terrible situations. We had all of this adversity, and we turned it into something really beautiful,” the band say.
