Gritty In Pink hosted their latest IG Live event March 23, to wrap up Women’s History Month and raise money for Keep A Breast. You can watch the stream – featuring Jordyn Carter, Melissa B, TikTok star MegaGoneFree, MAKO Girls, Alexx Calise, Sara Baldwin, JOVANNA and Denisha Dalton – on their IGTV now.
Hosted by Gritty In Pink founder Shiragirl, backed by house band musicians Alex Windsor, Sabrina Winter, and Jeannette Lawler, Shiragirl opened the show with a pop-punk cover of Billie Eilish’s “everything i wanted,” setting the energy and excitement for the rest of the show, which raised hundreds of dollars for Keep A Breast.
Next came an interview with emerging Bay Area rapper Jordyn Carter, and a performance of her anthemic “Kopy Kat” single. Carter also announced her upcoming single, “Four 13”, which will be available on her 19th birthday, April 13.
It was a night filled with rocking performances, and candid conversations, including Melissa B on the need for increased female representation in the music industry, MegaGoneFree on her rise on TikTok, and the plans for her debut EP; and Denisha Dalton on her experience on The Voice so far.
Performances included young sister group MAKO Girls performing their single “Leverage”, and Alexx Calise with a stripped-down version of her song “Break Me”. JOVANNA closed out the show with a powerful and moving performance of “Anyone” by Demi Lovato.
The show was sponsored by Guitar Girl, Mackie, Pitfire Pizza, Drew Martin, Fender, and Owl’s Brew, who partnered with Gritty In Pink to give away some Owl’s Brew Mixers to the top donors during the livestream.
The next Gritty Rocks Live, Spring Fling, goes out Tuesday, April 6, so mark your calendars now!
